10 Days Gorilla & Chimpanzee Trekking Experience

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be picked up by our professional driver guide to your hotel. Our guide will introduce you briefly to of one of Africa’s cleanest cities the next day and give you a general orientation about the trip. Meals and accommodation at serena Hotel Kigali

After breakfast 9am, you will be you will start you Kigali city with the genocide memorial to pay homage to the victims of Genocide Against Tutsi. Rwanda’s painful past has haunted the country for years; however, their impressive recovery story has turned them into an inspiration. The Kigali Genocide Memorial is the final resting place for more than 250,000 victims of the Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. It honors the memory of the more than one million Rwandans killed in 1994. The memorial also serves to educate about genocide and peace -building around the world and after that we will proceed to the Campaign against Genocide memorial. After the experience you will be transfered to musanze with overnight at Tiloreza Eco Lodge.

After an early breakfast, we will drive to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters. After Tourists received an introduction from park ranger at Volcanoes National Park Gate, The exhilarating climb through the mysterious intimacy of the rainforest with the colorful birds will takes you to the rare golden monkey. Their striking golden fur coat, contrasting the green rainforests and their dynamically character of make vast leaps from tree to tree gives you an unforgettable experience. You will head to the lodge for relaxation.

An early breakfast, we will drive to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters to be allocated a gorilla tracking group at 7am. You will get a briefing by your trackers, and then you start the amazing adventure of Gorilla trekking.

The tracking / trekking can entail some thorough climbing as well as hiking although when you come face to face with the tranquil yet potent Mountain Gorillas, watching them only a few meters away from you observing the group, the baby with the mothers, the gorillas partaking their everyday routine just right in front of you is all very overwhelming experience. Rwanda produces some of the world’s best teas, like those from Pfunda Tea Estate and factory. The tea estate lies below the Virunga volcano and the rich volcanic soil helps to contribute to a higher tea quality. Situated 9km from the Gisenyi city Centre. After breakfast, you will be driven to meet the local farmers and enjoy a 2-hour tea experience with pfunda Tea Cooperative, going through the whole process of tea making, all the way from picking leaves to having a hot cup of it. After the experience will drive to Serena Hotel for overnight stay.

Nyungwe is one of the oldest rainforests in Africa, covering 1,019 km2 of dense Afromontane forests, bamboo-covered slopes, grasslands and wetlands. The park feeds two of the world’s largest rivers, the Congo and the Nile, and provides 70% of the country’s freshwater. It is also a regional biodiversity hotspot, supporting 1,068 recorded plant species, 322 bird species, 75 known mammal species and 13 different primate species.

After breakfast at 8am, we will drive to Nyungwe forest park. It approximately 4 to 5 hours to reach Nyungwe Forest park.  Meals and accommodation at Kivu Marina Bay Hotel.

At 5am after breakfast, will drive off to Nyungwe for briefing and then after setting off for chimpanzee trekking. chimpanzees are the closet relatives to human beings sharing approximately 98% of human DNA. The chimpanzees live in different families each family headed by one dominant who leads the group. They demonstrate different roles in a family with the females nursing and taking care of the young ones, the males protecting the family and the young ones playing and feeding. After breakfast at 8am, we will drive to Uwinka for a canopy walk experience. The canopy walkway gives an exhilarating perspective on the ancient treetops, bird’s eye view of the Albertine Rift endemic species and countless butterflies. After breakfast at 8 am, you will be picked up for your transfer to Akagera It named after Akagera after a river that flows along the eastern boundary and feeds into a labyrinth of lakes. Rolling hills of Acacia bush with panoramic views across scattered grassland, patches of thick forest and mosaic of swamp -fringed lakes along the meandering Akagera watercourse contribute to this park’s almost unrivalled diversity and scenic beauty.

After Park registration we will head for a short game drive You will immerse yourself in the Rwanda’s savannah safari park in search for Masai giraffe, elephants, lions, waterbuck, bushbuck and reedbuck providing contrasting memories and watch over as large herds of impala, Zebras and topi skip by. Then later that evening you will proceed to a night game drive at 5:30 you will spot mostly nocturnal animals. Meals and accommodation at Ruzizi tented lodge

After a cup of the finest Rwandan coffee/tea at 8am, you will head for full game drive from the southern part of the park to the Northern part which takes about 6 hours to 7 to drive with in the park. The full day game drive offers you more opportunities to spot a variety of wild animals that you might have missed yesterday such as elephants, buffalos, lions, Masai giraffe, gazelles, impala, baboons, oribi, Butchel’s zebra, topi, bush baby, leopard and bushbuck coupled with large concentration of bird life; over 525 species identified  and later drive back to the airport for your international flight back home.
