Overview

Serengeti Wildebeests Migration is a display of natural wonders with over two million wildebeests, zebras, and antelope traveling over 450 miles across the plain to ensure their survival, unaware that there’s danger presented by the stalking lions and cheetahs among other predators of the wildlife. Witness huge crocodiles of the Mara River as they wait for the herbivorous to cross the swollen Mara river and enter into Masai Mara Game Reserve from Serengeti National Park.

The wildebeest migration river crossing in August moves north, passing through the Lobo area (north of Central Serengeti National Park) and the Wagakuria area (remote northern Serengeti National Park along the Mara River) en-route to Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Reserve

Day 05 - 07: Drive to North Serengeti National Park for Full Day Game

After breakfast at the Lodge, on day 05, our guide will drive to North Serengeti where you will spend 3 days for an intensive game drive, The place which is well known for Wildebeest Migration with Mara River crossing from June to October.

Serengeti National Park -- Resident wildlife numbers are exceptionally high in the Wagakuria area, with pride of lion up to 30 strong, however, from August to October the area turns into a wildlife paradise. The key feature is the Mara River and it is not uncommon to see the herds cross the Mara River north on one day and then back south a few days later.

October marks the end of the dry season, and the “short rains” can sometimes start this month. It’s one of the warmer months of the year, with day time highs averaging at 29C.

Some of the Great Migration herds are still in the Northern Serengeti (and still making Mara River crossings), but sometimes this month (depending on when the rains start), the herds start to move back down into the Serengeti from the Masai Mara this month, passing through the Loliondo Game Controlled Area (a concession outside of the park’s northern section).

Depending on when the rains start in October, the herds of the Great Migration will start to make their way from the Masai Mara back down south into the Serengeti, however, the exact timing of this movement is unpredictable. There is a chance that you can still catch the last of the river crossings in the Northern Serengeti this month.

Falling at the end of the dry season, October’s very dry and thin vegetation means that this is an excellent month for seeing the resident game.
